Available intrumentation:

• NICOLET 60SX FTIR instument with DTGS and InSb detectors and standard equipment for solid samples and films
  
• standard module (5 - 65 °C) with
  • fixed-pathlength transmission cells for liquids (different spacers; KBr, BaF₂, CaF₂, and TPX windows)
  • variable-pathlength transmission cell for liquids (BaF₂, Si, and polyethylene windows)
  • standard (multiple reflection) Attenuated Total Reflection cell with ZnSe crystal
  • single bounce Horizontal ATR cell with ZnSe crystal
  Both ATR cells allow the investigation of aqueous solutions. Due to its very small effective pathlenth the HATR cell is especially useful for highly absorbing samples.
  
• low-temperature module (77 - 298 K) with cryostat for fixed-pathlength transmission cells (see above).
  
• GRAMS/386^TM software package for data analysis.

Expertise in quantitative infrared spectroscopy of highly absorbing samples coming from investigations on ion-ion and ion-solvent interactions in electrolyte solutions.
