Prof. Dr. Georg Schmeer

Research activities

  • Investigation of chemical reactions in liquid phase
  • Development of devices for rapid reactions in solution
  • Development of experimental devices for the investigation of kinetic and thermodynamic phenomena in supercritical phases.
  • Atomic force microscopy (AFM) and scanning tunnelling microscopy (STM) of polymer- and tenside films or metallic and non-metallic surfaces and electrodes.
  • Ab-initio and semiempirical quantum chemical calculation of chemical reactions: Study of the kinetics of the hydrolysis and solvolysis of substituted carboxylic esters. Calculation of gas-phase radon and implementation of solvent effects via SCRF and related methods.
