Photoluminescence Properties and Applications of Metal Complexes with Metal-Metal Interactions
The cooperation of Prof. Dr. Hartmut Yersin's
group (Universität Regensburg, Germany) and Prof. Dr. Chi-Ming Che's / Dr.
Stella Lai's group in the field of material development is supported by the
DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst) and the Hong Kong Research Grant
Council (RGC). In this project it is planned to synthesize new metal complexes
which exhibit weak metal-metal interactions in suitable structures. In the
focus of this cooperation, the two groups investigate d8 and d10
metal complexes with metallophilic interactions. By variation of the ligand
structures, it is possible to tune these interactions and thus to modify
photophysical properties. In particular, the characteristics of
photoluminescence, such as color, color purity, decay time, emission intensity,
etc. can be varied in a controlled way. Material design, synthesis, and
photophysical characterizations will be carried out by both groups, in
Regensburg as well as in Hong Kong.
