AGENDA OF THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
Content and Focus

"Spaces
" is an international conference which combines different perspectives from Art and Science by offering high profi le events, presentations, interactive art activities and exhibitions.
The focus of the project is Space. Interaction with our world requires constant adjustments. To attempt to understand this process we want to explore how our perception of space interacts with our spatial cognition to affect our behavior and our interaction with others. Spatial cognition is concerned with the acquisition, organization, utilization, and revision of knowledge about spatial environments. The research focus of several disciplines in humanities and science involves the representation of spatial relations and spatial reasoning.
We redesign, reshape, build up, and reinvent our perception of the space around us in order to navigate our day-to-day activities. To address the many ways we can defi ne this perception, we have brought together people from different disciplines, including: Architecture, Fine Arts, Art History, Sports Science, Mathematics, and Psychology. We believe that each of these disciplines can contribute a unique perspective to our project.
By bringing these areas together we strive to inspire interdisciplinary research between Art and Science to investigate the perception of space through visualization, communication, and experimentation. Spaces aims to bring together experts in the following areas: Spatial Perception (visual, auditory, tactile, and multimodal), Spatial cognition ,virtual spaces, Movement in space, Urban Design, Spatial Art (design of form and space), Spatial Aesthetics and Perceptual Development.
