| In these tables the incipits
from vols. 1 and 2 of Hesbert's Corpus Antiphonalium Officii are so arranged
that concordances and series can be seen more easily. The incipit of the
chant is given once only, in the first column. The position of each chant
in the source (antiphon 1, antiphon 2, etc.) manuscript is given by a
number.
To Hesbert's 12 sources, the Mont-Renaud manuscript and the Old-Roman
antiphoner have been added.

In addition, basic information about some of the antiphon melodies is
given. If the antiphon is edited by Dobszay and Szendrei in Antiphonen,
Monumenta Monodica Medii Aevi 5 (1999), its number in the edition is given
in the column 'Dob'. This is also an indication of the mode of the antiphon
(1001... mode 1, 2001... mode 2, etc.). The range of the antiphon follows,
and finally in the column "gc" the notes on which the so-called
"Gallican cadence" (C-D-D, D-E-E, F-G-G, G-a-a, etc.) is formed
at the ends of phrases. Information on some series of antiphons not in
the edition by Dobszay and Szendrei have been added from SD (Paris 17296)
or SM (Paris 12044).
