TINCR
TINCR is required for induction of genes mediating differentiation-associated epidermal barrier formation

Shown here is immunofluorescence staining of organotypic regenerated human epidermis depleted of TINCR expression vs. control tissue. Abundance of keratin10 [orange] – a protein expressed in differentiated layers of the epidermis – is significantly reduced in TINCR-deficient tissue. Basement membrane: CollagenVII staining, [green]; nuclei: Hoechst 33342 [blue].
ANCR
ANCR maintains the undifferentiated state in the human epidermal progenitor compartment (Kretz et al., Genes Dev. 2012).
Shown here is immunofluorescence staining of organotypic regenerated human epidermis depleted of ANCR expression vs. control tissue. Transglutaminase1 [orange] – a protein normally exclusively expressed in differentiated strata of the epidermis – is expressed in all layers of the tissue including the progenitor compartment directly proximal to the basement membrane (visualized by CollagenVII staining [green]); nuclei: Hoechst 33342 [blue].
