Master Biology

The Master in Biology (M.Sc.) is designed to deepen the scientific knowledge and is more strongly research-oriented than the bachelor course.

• start of studies in the winter and summer semester
• regular duration: 4 semesters
• total of 120 credit points

The master's program includes a qualification module and three core modules (Schwerpunktmodule), whereby one core module can be replaced by an elective module (Wahlmodul) offered by other scientific faculties. Each core and elective module is completed with an oral examination. The master thesis is written in one of the core modules or the elective module.

Course of study

The core modules and the qualification module are completed during the first three semesters. The Master's thesis can be started after completion of the core modules in the 3rd semester, and usually lasts 9 months (min. 6 months).
