1947 - 59 University of Saarbrücken: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Philosophy.
Liececié ès Sciences: Physics(1952); Diplom-Mathematiker(1953); Staatsexamen für das Lehramt an Gymnasien (1953): Mathematics, Physics, Philosophy; Dr. rer. nat. (chemistry 1956) under the direction of Professor J. E. Dubois (Sarbonne, Paris); Habilitation and Venia legendi (Physical Chemistry, 1959).

University Positions:

1959 - 71 Lecturer, Associate Professor of Physical Chemistry, Head of the Electrochemistry Section of the Chemistry Departmetnt of the University of Saarbrücken;
1966 - 84 Visiting Professor (Organic Physical Chemistry) at the University Paris VII;
1971 - 97 Full Professor of Physical Chemistry and Head of the Department of Physical and Theoretical Chemistry at the University of Regensburg, since 1997 Emeritus Professor;
1974 - 77 Dean and 1991 - 94 Vice Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy,
1979 - 82 Vice president of the University of Regensburg; Member of the Senat, Member and Chairman of various University commissions.

Corresponding member of the Accademia Peloritana, Messina (Italy), Class di Science, Fisiche, Matematiche et Naturali (1993), Corresponding Member of the European Academy of Science, Paris (1993); Honoris causa doctor of the Univesité Paris VII (1997); N.S.
