1. Connect to basic.uni-regensburg.de
Start your computer while you are somewhere on campus. Now you should be able to see several networks. Connect to basic.uni-regensburg.de (Img.1).
2. Open the browser and register
You should be automatically redirected to the registration page. (Img. 2: http://register.uni-regensburg.de). Choose "Neuanmeldung (new registration)" and fill in the forms. It takes about 20-30 minutes for the registration to be valid.
3. Change the Configuration of your Wi-Fi for the UR
Stay connected to basic.uni-regensburg.de. Deactivate any additional software tools that configure your Wi-Fi and let the native Windows handle the Wi-Fi. You can find an easy-to-use programme that configures your Wi-Fi for you at http://www-pc.uni-regensburg.de. The name of the programme is wlanconfig.exe, and the direct link is: http://www-pc.uni-regensburg.de/wlanconfig.exe (Img. 3).
4. Connect to secure.uni-regensburg.de
Connect to secure.uni-regensburg.de or secure.hs-regensburg.de respectively, if you study at the Regensburg University of Applied Sciences (Img. 4).
First enter your user name and password (Img. 5). Once this authentication is successful you have a secure, encrypted access to our network.
(Image 5: Enter user name (e.g. vip12345) and password under Windows Vista and Windows 7. You will be asked to choose the profile of the connection on connecting for the first time: Choose “Public Network.”)

Apple/mac
1. Connect to basic.uni-regensburg.de
If you are at the campus of the university, you should be able to receive a list of networks you can connect to. Choose basic.uni-regensburg.de.
2. Open the browser and register
Open your browser. It will automatically navigate to our registration website. If you are not automatically proceeded to the site, type in the following URL manually:
http://register.uni-regensburg.de
Now you have to enter the data necessary for your registration. The registration is valid after 15-30 minutes.
Configuration
Older Versions
Mac OS X Leopard (10.5.x)
With Leopard as an operating system, things are a little more complicated, but still manageable if you make the necessary changes in your network menu. (Apple à Properties à Network à Airport) These changes have to be made while you are in reach of secure.uni-regensburg.de!
Choose „Airport‟ from the connections. If there is no such network it has to be created via the +-icon.
Choose secure.uni-regensburg.de from the box of names available for network, then press „further options‟.
In these further options you have to do as follows:
- Choose “802.1X“
- Create a new use profile and call it “Uni Regensburg”
- Enter your CC account (vip12345) as user name.
- Do not enter any password here!
- New Wireless Network: Enter secure.uni-regensburg.de.
- Choose TTLS encryption and click ”configure”, then choose PAP.
- Create a new network, call it secure.uni-regensburg.de, choose WPA2 as encryption method and choose “Uni Regensburg” as a profile. Click “Add” to finish the process.
Mac OS X Panther and Tiger (10.3.9 and 10.4.11)
If you are currently using one of the older versions of OS X you can use the wifi 15-30 minutes after your registration. Use the “airport‟ symbol to connect to secure.uni-regensburg.de (see below).
PLEASE NOTE: You have to change the encryption to TTLS-PAP.
