The Equal Opportunities Officers support and monitor the enforcement of the General Act on Equal Treatment, which is applicable to (female and male) non-academic staff within institutions of higher education.

It is also the duty of the Equal Opportunities Officers to give advice regarding equal opportunity issues and individual support to staff while those may also turn directly to the Equal Opportunities Officers. The Equal Opportunities Officers shall be informed fully and in a timely manner on the performance of their duties.
The Equal Opportunities Officers are to be involved early in all major projects where issues concerning equal opportunities are present. The Equal Opportunities Officers, as well as the staff members that have been allocated for them to fulfil their tasks, are bound by the obligation of confidentiality with regards to personal data and other confidential matters beyond the period of their appointment.
The Equal Opportunities Officer of the university is also point of contact for dealing with complaints. According to § 13 of the General Act on Equal Treatment (AGG) staff members have the right to complain to the responsible department of their firm, company or institution, if they feel discriminated by the employer, the superior, other employees or third parties in conjunction with their employment relationship.
