Frequently Asked Questions: Digitization

What is being digitized?

In the context of projects as well as on demand of patrons, titles dating from 1500 to 1930 are scanned and placed at everyone’s disposal for free in the digital collections.

The titles come from the holdings of the University Library of Regensburg and its numerous partners. The works need to be copyright free for that they can be digitized, which means that the copyright holder, mostly the author, has to be dead at least 70 years.

Where can I find digitized content of the University Library?

The digitized works are available for free in the digital collections of the University Library.

Furthermore, they can be found via the library catalog, the union catalog Gateway Bayern and the EOD search engine, which contains the holdings of 40 libraries.

Is it possible to order the digitization of a book?

The University Library of Regensburg offers together with 39 other libraries from twelve European countries the service of digitization eBooks on Demand – EOD.

The order, which is subject to costs, can be placed via the Regensburg library catalog or EOD search. The patron receives a searchable PDF and by request also a reprint of the digitized work.
