Directions/Getting to the University

Virtually all the facilities and buildings of Regensburg University are located on campus, which measures 150 hectares and is situated in the south of Regensburg.

Getting there by Train

You can reach Regensburg Main Station by both express trains and regional trains. Regensburg is located at the railroad lines Amsterdam – Vienna and Paris – Prague.
Within Germany you can take trains coming from Berlin/Dresden, Hamburg/Hannover, Dortmund/Köln, Frankfurt/Stuttgart and Munich. For further information please visit the following website: Deutsche Bahn.
Once you’ve reached Regensburg Main Station, you can either walk to Regensburg University (20 to 30 minutes), take a cab or take a bus (lines 2b, 6 and 11). You may find the bus schedule at: Regensburger Verkehrsverbund (RVV)



Reaching Regensburg University by Bus

Regensburg University can easily be reached by bus. You can take the lines 2b, 4, 6 and 11 of the local bus service (RVV). Get off at “Universität Haupteingang” (i.e. main entrance) or “Universität Mensa” (i.e. Cafeteria). You will find the buses at the main bus station (“Bustreff Albertstraße”) near the station (with the exception of line 4).
If you have a BahnCard and purchased a long distance ticket from Deutsche Bahn, taking the bus within Regensburg is free of charge (= City-Ticket).



Getting there by car


You can drive to Regensburg by taking the highways A3 or A 93.


A 3: Frankfurt – Nuremberg – Regensburg – Passau – Vienna
Exit („Ausfahrt“) „Universität / Klinikum“, then follow signs to „Universität“.
The parking garage of Regensburg University is on Albertus-Magnus-Street, which runs through the center of the campus.


A 93: Munich – Regensburg – Hof – Dresden
Take exit „Regensburg – Kumpfmühl“ at interchange 43. Go straight at the traffic light, following Ludwig-Thoma-Straße for 2,6 km. At the second traffic light turn right onto Universitätsstraße. At the next crossroads turn left onto Albertus-Magnus-Straße, which runs under parts of campus. Follow this street and the parking garage entrance is on the right side.


Getting there by Plane


From Munich Airport
Bus line 635 of Munich Transport Services (MVV) takes you from Terminal 2 to Freising Station. From there the train ride to Regensburg takes between 60 and 90 minutes.
Alternatively, there is a shuttle service which takes you directly from Munich Airport to Regensburg (for further information click on: Airportliner). The costs for a one-way trip amount to € 38.- Please note that this service has to be booked a day in advance.


From Nuremberg Airport
From Nuremberg Airport you can reach the main station by bus or subway. The train ride from Nuremberg Main Station to Regensburg takes between 60 and 90 minutes.
