Lebenslauf
Prof. Dr. Anne-Julia Zwierlein studierte von 1991 bis 1996, gefördert durch die Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes sowie ein Jahresstipendium des DAAD, an den Universitäten Bonn, Oxford (Exeter College) und Münster. Nach dem Staatsexamen lehrte sie als Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Englischen Seminar Münster sowie als Lehrbeauftragte am Institut für Komparatistik und wurde durch ein Promotions-stipendium der Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes gefördert. 2000 erfolgte die Promotion ("summa cum laude"; Promotionspreis der Universität Münster). 2001 wechselte sie als Wissenschaftliche Assistentin an die Universität Bamberg. 2005 erhielt sie einen Heinz Maier Leibnitz Preis der DFG, und von 2005 bis 2006 war sie als Feodor Lynen Fellow der Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung assoziiertes Mitglied der English Departments in Sheffield und Oxford sowie Plumer Visiting Fellow am St Anne's College, Oxford. Habilitation 2007. Ab 2008 vertrat sie den Lehrstuhl für Englische Literatur- und Kulturwissenschaft an der Universität Regensburg; 2009 wurde sie auf diesen Lehrstuhl berufen und vom Bayerischen Staatsministerium für Wissenschaft, Forschung und Kunst für eine Förderung im Bayerischen Sonderprogramm „Neuberufene Professorinnen“ ausgewählt.

Curriculum Vitae
Prof. Dr. Anne-Julia Zwierlein studied at the universities of Bonn, Oxford (Exeter College), and Münster (1991-1996). She received funding from the 'Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes' (German National Academic Foundation) and the 'DAAD' (German Academic Exchange Service). After taking her state exam in 1996 she taught as a research assistant at the English Department, and as an associate lecturer at the Department of Comparative Literature, University of Münster. She received a Ph.D. scholarship from the 'Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes' und took her Ph.D. in 2000 ("summa cum laude"; dissertation prize of the University of Münster). In 2001, she took up a position as assistant professor at the University of Bamberg. In 2005 she was awarded one of the Heinz Maier Leibnitz prizes of the DFG (German Research Foundation). From 2005 to 2006 she was Feodor Lynen Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and associated member at the English Departments, Sheffield and Oxford, as well as Plumer Visiting Fellow at St Anne's College, Oxford. She completed her 'Habilitation' in 2007. In 2008 she replaced the Chair of English Literary and Cultural Studies at the University of Regensburg; in 2009 she was appointed to this position. In the same year she was elected to receive special funding from the Bavarian State Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts.

Forschung
FORSCHUNG
Die Forschungsgebiete von Prof. Dr. Anne-Julia Zwierlein liegen in der englischen Literatur und Kultur der Frühen Neuzeit, im Viktorianismus sowie im späten 20./21. Jahrhundert. Ihre Dissertation beschäftigt sich mit (anti-)kolonialen und imperialen Umschreibungen von John Miltons Texten im 'langen 18. Jahrhundert'. Neben der Shakespeare-Forschung sind weitere frühneuzeitliche Schwerpunkte: Jacobean City Comedy, weibliche Autorinnen, englisches Rechtssystem und Literatur sowie 'science and literature studies'. Dieser methodologische Ansatz prägt auch die Habilitations-schrift, die kulturelle Diskurse über Form- und Bildungskonzepte im viktorianischen 'Bildungsroman' und naturwissenschaftlichen Texten untersucht.

RESEARCH
Prof. Dr. Anne-Julia Zwierlein's main areas of research are early modern English literature and culture, Victorianism, and late 20th/21st-century literature. Her Ph.D. dissertation was on (anti-)colonial and imperial rewritings of John Milton's texts during the 'Long Eighteenth Century'. Apart from Shakespeare studies, further early modern areas of interest are Jacobean City Comedy; early modern women writers; early modern 'law and literature' as well as 'science and literature studies'. The latter methodological approach also characterizes her 'Habilitation' thesis, which analyses cultural discourses about formation and education in the Victorian 'novel of formation' and scientific texts.
