Office hours

Since May 2016, the International Office is offering additional office hours for refugees who are wishing to study at the University of Regensburg. During these office hours, you can hand in your applications and we will answer general questions concerning the application process.

Further information is provided here.

If you wish to gain detailed information regarding your requirements for academic perspectives, we recommend to schedule an appointment for an introductory counseling at the International Office.

Introductory counseling at the International Office

During a first advisory meeting at the International Office we can present the possibilities at the University of Regensburg. We will clarify whether you are eligible for university admission and provide you with information on German courses at the UR.

Please send an email to studierende.fluechtlinge@ur.de to schedule an appointment.

German courses at the UR

Language Level Courses Offered at the UR

The UR does not offer preparatory language courses at level A1/A2. To start with the preparatory German courses you need to show proof that you have already finished level A2.

The University of Regensburg provides preparatory German courses from level B1 onwards (1-2 semesters). If you are planning to study at the University of Regensburg, but you do not have level C1 in German, please apply for the preparatory courses at the International Office.

Deadline for the application for the winter semester 2016/17 (which starts in October) is July 15, 2016.

If you already have level C1 in German and want to start studying directly, you can take part in a preparatory course for the language exam DSH (German language test for admission to university for international applicants).

You can find information about the application process for study programs here. If you are interested in preparatory course for the DSH you can find more information on the website of the Lehrgebiet Deutsch als Fremdsprache.

The free online test onSET allows you to identify your current language proficiency in German.

Information on specialized counseling for study programs

  2. You have discussed whether you are eligible for university admission and for which study programs your certificates/diplomas from your home country qualify you.

As long as you have the approval of the ZSB, you may be able to attend some lectures as a guest to get more insight in your study program ("Schnupperstudium").

Mentoring program

Our mentoring program is an opportunity for refugees to get in touch with other students from the University of Regensburg.

Besides answering questions about studying in Regensburg, the mentors can assist when it comes to learning the language and can accompany the refugees to consulting services. You can find more information and apply for the program on the website of Campus Asyl.
