Going to school in Regensburg

Your children can certainly join a regular school in Regensburg. Many international guest however prefer an international school because of the language barrier in a regular school.

International School

The Regensburg International School (RIS) opened its doors for children in grades 1 through 4 in August 2009. Presently it can accommodate preschool children (3-6 year olds) and it offers grades 1-7.  The campus moved in November 2012 to a location in the south of the city of Regensburg. Thereby, the region of Eastern Bavaria gained an important Standortfaktor.

RIS offers the Primary Years Programme from the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) and has applied to be an IB candidate school. The school will then be part of a worldwide network of more than 2,500 International Schools.

RIS offers an educational system that specialised for foreign and international orientated German families who are dependent on an educational system that enables the access to an authorised and qualified curriculum that is accepted worldwide.

Depending on demand, RIS plans establishing classes up to grade 12. RIS was launched with the assistance of the Bavarian International School near Munich. The school was initiated by the city of Regensburg, the administrative district of Regensburg, the Regensburg Chamber of Commerce (IHK) and nearby companies such as Areva, Continental, Infineon, Krones, Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen, Osram, the University and the University of Applied Sciences.

From now on binding application for preschool as well as for grades 1 to 8 is possible. You will find all relevant documents like application form, fee regulations, terms of payment and TOS on the school homepage.
