As we want you to have a pleasant and successful stay at UR, the International Office offers a special service point for international researchers and their families.

Visiting Researcher Services is a support service for international researchers, lecturers, PhDs, PostDocs and their hosting institutions. We help you to find accommodation, offer German language courses and assist you with a wide range of issues, such as visa requirements, residence permits, insurances, banking, schooling/childcare and much more. International researchers who are accompanied by their families will find support by the organisation "Women International" that offers advice for families and organizes social events.

UR is the favorite university for international researchers in the natural sciences!

The University of Regensburg is the favorite university in Germany for researchers in the natural sciences that come from abroad. This is the outcome of the new ranking of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation,  published in April 2012. In the category "Natural Sciences", the UR achieved first place with 50 visiting scholars (international awardees and scholarship holders). Within the overall ranking, the UR is among the first 20 most seeked German universities.

The new Humboldt ranking shows which universities and research centres are in vogue among international researchers. The Humboldt-awardees choose their host institution and make that decision upon the research quality and the international recognition of the institutions.
