The courses offered by the Department of German as a Foreign Language for external participants are aimed at advanced learners of German who have reached Level C1 of the European Framework of Reference for Languages and are preparing for a degree or an academic job in Germany and would like to receive further education and training in the area of academic language skills.
The courses are generally structured to appeal to those preparing for studies or an occupation, but they may also be useful as professional development and training for those already in an occupational setting.
The courses strive to expand and strengthen general language knowledge as well as teach language skills, competencies and work techniques that are necessary for a degree program or an academic job in Germany and that empower the learner to confidently manage communication within an academic setting. Academically focused reading, listening, writing, and speaking opportunities are used to familiarize the participant with the central pillars, types of texts, and elementary language techniques of academic communication. In addition, the courses focuses on preparing the participant for the language test TestDaF.

TestDaF Plus
"TESTDAF PLUS"
This course program is ideal for you if your German knowledge is at level B1 and you would like to effectively improve your skills and successfully complete the language test TestDaF.
Our goal is to strengthen and expand your general language competencies and teach you specific language skills necessary for an academic degree or academic occupation while simultaneously preparing you specifically for the TestDaF.
The course is structured in two phases. In the first course phase (12 weeks), you attend a language course for Level B2/C1. This language course will be complemented with intensive courses for the areas of reading comprehension, listening comprehension, and written and verbal expression. The course offer is rounded off by regional and cultural orientation and individualized pronunciation training. In the second course phase (3 weeks), we help you prepare intensively for successful completion of the TestDaF in all its parts.
During both course phases, as a supplement to your regular course, you are welcome to individually and flexibly improve your German through the use of learning opportunities offered on our E-Learning Platform. Our team of teachers support and consult you during your learning process and periodic proficiency tests demonstrate your advancement in all learning areas. TestDaF sample tests provide you with significant feedback about your skills level and familiarize you with the test structure.

Training course
"TESTDAF TRAINING COURSE"
DThe TestDaF Training Course is ideal for you if your advanced language skills are at Level B2 and you would like to effectively prepare for the test requirements. In altogether 60 hours, you study the test structure and master strategies for a successful test score with the use of typical questions, mock tests, and former tests. A TestDaF sample test will familiarize you with the examination conditions, and its results will give you objective and significant feedback about your achievement level. The course is run by TestDaF trained teachers.

The TestDaF Training Days are ideal for you if your language skills are at Level C1.1 and you would like to quickly and effectively get to know the TestDaF structure.
In altogether 10 hours, you will become familiarized with the examination conditions and will learn strategies for a successful test-taking experience. The course is run by TestDaF trained teachers.

Medicine
"MEDICAL GERMAN"
The intensive course Medical German is ideal for you if your German proficiency is at Level B2/C1 and you would like strengthen your medical terminology and communication. With the use of reading, listening, speaking and writing exercises, you will develop more competency and expand your vocabulary in medical terminology. We will also deal with and practice grammatical structures common in medical settings.
This course is directed at doctors, medical students, and medical staff.
