(Deutsche Version)

What is telc?

Telc stands for The European Language Certificates. The European language certificates telc belong to an internationally recognized system of European language tests. There are telc certificates available for ten languages and 6 levels (A1 to C2).

A telc certificate provides you with proof of your foreign language competence on a Europe-wide comparable scale, for the telc levels correspond to the Common European Framework of Reference  (CEFR), which is valid for all European languages and is used beyond Europe as well. telc certificates are available in ten languages and for six levels (A1–C2), including German as a Foreign Language.

A telc certificate allows you to assess your learning success and shows your command of the language in various communication situations. The certificate documents your langauge skills in the areas of hearing, reading, speaking, and writing. With a telc certificate in your pocket, you are in possession of a precise, internationally comparable and internationally recognized documentation of your German foreign language skills. On top of that, it shows that you are engaged, interested and goal-oriented – clear points of advantage in an application.

The German as a Foreign Language Department's offers for telc are especially aimed at course participants, primarily exchange students, who are studying at the University of Regensburg and would like to receive a certificate to verify their language skill level obtained while studying in Germany.
