Compulsory Contribution towards Expenses

Deutsche Version

Dear SFA course participants,

For non-degree language courses (SFA courses), a compulsory contribution towards expenses will be charged starting in the summer semester 2015. This is based on a decision made by university management on November 24, 2014.

The non-degree courses in German as a foreign language, Oral Communication and Speech Training courses, and the academic writing consultation at the ZSK will continue to be free of charge.

The amount of the compulsory contribution for an SFA course during the entire semester can be found in the following table (also see Ordinance on Compulsory Contribution from January 27, 2015).

Please note: Your course registration will not be valid until the compulsory contribution is transferred.

In certain cases, deferring payment (= delaying payment for a few weeks) or obtaining an exemption from paying the compulsory contribution may be possible upon application. These cases are listed in the following:

Payment exemption based on study / examination regulations

All students who, based on their study or examination regulations, are required to take non-degree language courses for certain modules will be exempt from paying the compulsory contribution upon application.

Here you will find a list of degree courses for which you can apply for an exemption.

Deferral / installments / exemption due to hardship

The reason for applying for hardship assistance can be highly individual; there may also be a combination of different reasons. In such a case, you can submit an informal application (about half a DIN A4 page), in which you explain your reason(s). It will then be decided if we can grant the possibility to defer payment (i.e. postponing its due date for a few weeks), to pay in installments or to waive payment entirely.
