Research Interests

I am mostly interested in community ecology, its theoretical foundations, how they can be linked to functional ecology and harnessed to improve biodiversity modeling.

My favorite study ecosystem is the vegetation of mountain grasslands. Mountain plant diversity is strongly influenced by climatic conditions and landuse but positive and negative biotic interactions among plants also play an important role. Also mountain flowers are awesome.

I am currently the main investigator of the CLIMB project: I am developping and testing new methods to calibrate process-based community models on empirical community data through the use of functional traits (see below for more).
