The Chair of Production Management is pleased to announce that a joint Franco-German seed funding proposal has been awarded by the Franco-Bavarian University cooperation center (external link, opens in a new window).
The project establishes a new research collaboration between Professor Justus Arne Schwarz (University of Regensburg) and Professor Benjamin Legros (SKEMA Business School, France). The partnership aims to develop new analytical and computational approaches for the study of stochastic service systems operating under uncertainty.
The collaboration combines complementary expertise in queueing theory, stochastic decision processes, optimization, and simulation. During the seed phase, the partners will jointly develop a focused research agenda addressing topics such as resource management for emergency services, service systems with heterogeneous customer preferences, and sustainable reusable container networks. The funded activities include bilateral research meetings, a joint workshop involving doctoral researchers from both institutions, and the preparation of a joint proposal for a larger Franco-German research program.
This project marks an important step toward establishing a long-term international collaboration and strengthening research on next-generation stochastic systems.
