Regensburg Area Studies Prizes
Felix Bruckner, Tizian Dick, and Miriam Mähner Receive Awards for their Area Studies Theses at the University of Regensburg - Research Colloquium with Dr. Jan Hornát, Charles University Prague

The history of the Bavarian-Bohemian border is the subject of many permanent exhibitions in museums in the border region. In his master's thesis in public history and cultural mediation at the University of Regensburg (UR), Felix Bruckner examined how permanent cultural history exhibitions in museums tell the story of their own border location. For his impressive analysis, he has now been awarded the Regensburg Area Studies Prize 2023, which has been awarded annually from 2020 by the Department of Interdisciplinary and Multiscalar Area Studies (DIMAS) at the University of Regensburg (UR) and the closely associated Leibniz ScienceCampus (LSC) for outstanding theses in Area Studies.

The master's theses of Tizian Dick (Economics) and Miriam Mähner (East-West Studies) were awarded second place at the ceremony on July 4, 2024. In keeping with the date of the event, the award ceremony was followed by a research colloquium focusing on the United States of America: Dr. Jan Hornát, a political scientist at Charles University in Prague, spoke about how small states play an important role in U.S. foreign policy.
Dr. Paul Vickers, Managing Director of DIMAS and LWC, introduced the award winners and presented the prizes of 400 euros each to the three UR graduates. They were joined by UR students, doctoral students from the Graduate School of East and Southeast European Studies (GS OSES) and their supervising professors.
