Postdocs Yih-Shiuan Lin, Alfred Lindl, Ameka Myrie, Alexander Scheiter, and Zhiyan Wang Honored in UR Funding Program

The University of Regensburg (UR) is committed to supporting its early-career researchers with tailored packages that include funding, mentoring, workshops, and collegial counseling. In 2024, the university’s executive board launched the "UR Potentials" program, designed to "empower postdocs to achieve early independence through their own research proposals, assist them in establishing junior research groups, and award them for successful applications in external funding programs," explained Professor Dr. Ernst Tamm, UR’s Vice President for Research and Early Career Development, during the certificate ceremony for the first cohort admitted in October 2024.

In Program Line 1 – Early Independence, Dr. Yih-Shiuan Lin (mentored by Professor Dr. Mark Greenlee and Professor Dr. Herbert Jägle), Dr. Ameka Myrie (mentored by PD Dr. Eva Schulte, Professor Dr. Peter Biedermann, and PD Dr. Jan Oettler), Dr. Alexander Scheiter (mentored by Professor Dr. Matthias Evert and Professor Dr. Diego Calvisi), and Dr. Zhiyan Wang (mentored by Professor Dr. Mark Greenlee and Professor Dr. Romuald Brunner) have been selected for funding. In Program Line 2 – Early Research Group, Dr. Alfred Lindl has been awarded for his project, "FALKO_PV: Subject-Specific Teacher Competencies – Predictive Validation of Professional Knowledge Tests for Teachers in Six Subjects.", funded by  the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

During a ceremony at the WIN (Center for Graduate and Postgraduate Researchers at the University of Regensburg), Professor Ernst Tamm congratulated the first UR Potentials, who were selected for the program by the UR Research Council. The Vice President was joined by staff from  UR’s Staff Unit Research Development, WIN and the UR Research Funding and Third-Party Funding Office. The awardees were also briefed on upcoming events planned for them during the winter semester. These include a workshop titled "How to Plan and Write a Competitive Research Proposal" at the end of November, followed by a leadership skills training series.
