EELC Digital Meetings for Emerging Scholars

As announced during the EELC Business meeting on January 22, 2021, we want to start a series of Digital Meetings for Emerging Scholars from Eastern Europe. The idea is to allow young scholars in  New Testament and Early Christian Studies (plus Old Testament scholars), that is, young persons from Eastern Europe with an outstanding master’s thesis, doctoral students and/or post-docs, to present aspects of their research to a group of senior scholars and at the same time get to know each other and start creating their own scholarly network(s).

These meetings will be organized by the University of Regensburg Chair of NT/Centre for Advanced Studies “Beyond Canon” - at least for the time being.

Proposed Format:

1. Five Papers by emerging scholars per Day (25 min paper + 30-35 min of discussion). Language: English, German or French (SNTS languages) plus breaks in chatrooms (allowing internal discussions between young scholars)
2. Emerging scholars may apply for a paper at the chair of NT Studies Regensburg (tobias.nicklas@theologie.uni-regensburg.de and marko.jovanovic@theologie.uni-regensburg.de) by handing in a CV and a short abstract (100-200 words) of the research they are planning to present. Even if their first proposal is rejected (because of lack of places), they may participate as guests at the meeting. We are also open to answer any kind of questions.
3. The meeting will take place via zoom.
4. Date of Meeting 1: Saturday, June 12, 2021, 9.30 am – 5.30 pm (including breaks).
5. Deadline for Proposals for Meeting 1: Saturday, May 15, 2021 (the earlier the better!!!)
6. A second Meeting is pre-scheduled for Saturday, December 11, 2021.

We are happy to receive any kind of proposals. Please help us to identify young Biblical scholars who could be interested. Inform friends and colleagues. We need the new generation.
