Research field within the Alliance ("Themenverbund")

Application of quantitative decision support methods (operations research) for participants in real estate and capital markets.


Short biography

Trained in computer science, information systems and operations research at RWTH Aachen University (Germany), Guido Schryen works in the fields of quantitative decision support (operations research), benefits of information systems and services, and IT security.

After research visits to Stanford University and Queensland University of Technology (Brisbane, Australia), he received a doctorate in information systems from the RWTH Aachen University with a thesis on component-based software engineering and earned a post-doctorate degree (habilitation/venia legendi) at the RWTH Aachen University with a thesis on the analysis and design of countermeasures against e-mail spam. From May 2007 to March 2011, he held a position as Assistant Professor at the Institute of Business Information Systems, RWTH Aachen University. From September 2008 to August 2009, he joined the International Computer Science Institute (ICSI) at Berkeley (USA), sponsored by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). From October 2009 to Juli 2010 and from October 2010 to March 2011, he was temporary professor of Information Systems Research at the University of Freiburg and at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel, respectively.

Since April 2011, Guido Schryen is professor of Information Systems Research at the University of Regensburg. He is also member of the advisory board of the „Bavarian IT Security and Safety Cluster“ (member of The Kompetenznetze Deutschland initiative of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology) and member of the advisory board of the „Forum IT-Security“ of the „Bavarian IT Security and Safety Cluster“.
