Research field within the Alliance ("Themenverbund")

In the area of monetary economics, the following research projects are currently active at the chair

  • characterization of economies with DSGE models
  • financial market integration in Europe, with a special focus on Eastern European Economies
  • Abrupt changes in current and capital accounts balances (`sudden stops`)

Short biography

Jürgen Jerger, born 1965, studied economics at the University of Freiburg and the London School of Economics. He did his doctorate in the area of macroeconomic labor market economics in 1993. The habilitation thesis, completed in 1998, deals with the interrelationship between wage and demand policies. In 1999 and 2000, he held visiting positions at the universities in Giessen and Erlangen-Nuremberg, before joining the University of Duisburg in 2001, from where he moved to Regensburg in fall 2002. Jürgen Jerger also serves as director of the Institute for East and South European Studies Regensburg (until end of 2011: Osteuropa-Institut) since November 2007. In January 2012 he was elected as Vice-Rector of the University of Regensburg.
