Scanning

Special scanners are available in the MultiMediaZentrum for digitisation. The devices can be used for scientific purposes in self-service free of charge. For an introduction on how the scanners work, please contact the contact persons of the MMZ.

The assignment of the devices is done via assignment lists. It is recommended to make a reservation about 1-2 days before the desired scan date. You are welcome to visit the MultiMediaCentre (Central Library, rooms 519) or contact us by phone (0941 943 -1607/ -1606/ -1608/ -1553) or by e-mail (mmz@ur.de).

You can save your scans as tiff, jpg or pdf files and then save them on a storage medium of your choice. Please respect the copyright laws.


Scanning books

At special book scanners you have the possibility to scan books up to DIN A2 in black and white, greyscale or colour mode. Digitisation on these devices is particularly gentle on books and saves time.

Scanning microfiches and microfilms

For the digitisation of microfiches and microfilms a special scanner is available in the scanner room of the MultiMediaCentre. You can scan on this device in colour, greyscale or black and white mode.

High-resolution scanning up to DIN A3

At two flatbed scanners you have the possibility to create very high resolution scans (up to 1.600 dpi) in black and white, greyscale or colour mode. A height-adjustable cover also makes it possible to place thicker documents on the scanner.

Scanning Large Format Documents

Our large format scanner can scan documents up to a size of DIN A0 (e.g. maps, posters, plans) in colour, greyscale or black and white. The device is also equipped with a book cradle for gentle scanning of large-format books.

Scanning slides and translucent media units

In the scanner room of the MultiMediaZentrum you have the possibility to scan 35mm slides (framed or unframed) individually or in batch processing (20 to 40 pieces) as well as other translucent formats such as film strips or X-ray images. Document holders are available for common formats.

Scanning scripts and paper batches

With our document scanner, single sheets of different sizes up to a maximum of DIN A3 can be digitalised in a time-saving (65 pages/min.) and comfortable (duplex) way. The automatic feeder holds up to 300 sheets. The scans can be made in black and white, greyscale or colour mode.

Scan Order Service

In addition to free self-service use of the scanners, the MultiMediaCentre also offers all students and employees of the University of Regensburg a fee-based scan order service.

What does the scan order service offer?

The Scan Order Service offers you the possibility to have printed material (up to DIN A0 size) as well as slides, microfiches and microfilms scanned. Which scanners are used for the digitisation depends on the type and quality of the original.

The scans are saved as tiff, jpg or pdf files and can then be saved on a storage medium of your choice. On request, we can also produce PDFs with automated text recognition (OCR).

Who can use the scan order service?

The scan order service can be used by all users of the University Library of Regensburg for scientific purposes.

What are the prices for the Scan Order Service?

Printed and translucent originals up to a maximum of DIN A3

  • up to 20 pages 3,00 €
  • each additional page 0,15 €

Scans on the large format scanner

  • Originals up to DIN A3 1,00 € per scan
  • originals up to DIN A0 2,00 € per scan

CD-ROM / DVD-ROM for data storage 1,25 €

The costs can be paid in cash or settled via cost centres. An invoice can also be issued on request.

How to place the order:

Please hand in a completed order form together with the original to the MultiMediaCentre. Do not forget to include your e-mail address or telephone number for any queries. You will be notified as soon as the order is completed and your digital data is ready for collection.

You can download the order form (German form, PDF), fill it in and print it out. Order forms in printed form are available at the information desk of the University Library or at the MultiMediaCentre.

Printed forms can vary greatly in quality, especially if they contain images. If you have special wishes and requirements, you should note them on the order form or discuss them in advance with the contact persons of the MultiMediaCentre.

Data protection

Your data will be processed on the basis of Art. 6 para. 1 letter e) DSGVO in conjunction with Art. 4 ff. BayDSG and §§ 2,3 and 10 ABOB. The University Library of Regensburg as a central institution of the University of Regensburg is entitled to process personal data as far as this is necessary for the lawful fulfilment of its tasks. The data is used exclusively for the scan order service of the MultiMediaCentre. We delete the data collected in this context after the storage is no longer necessary. A transfer to third parties is excluded.
