Musicology

International Music Score Library Project = IMSLP

The International Music Sheet Music Library Project aims to create a virtual library of all public domain scores, as well as a collection of sheet music by composers who wish to make their works available to the world free of charge.

The database contains digitised public domain sheet music and sound recordings: over 150,000 works by more than 18,000 composers; over 500 performers; around 500,000 editions; over 10 million pages; nearly 60,000 sound recordings.

Music in past and present = MGG Online

Musik in Geschichte und Gegenwart (Music in history and the present), MGG for short, is a general encyclopedia of music. Its encyclopedic claim distinguishes it fundamentally from other reference works: MGG offers in-depth articles on every area of music as well as on many related fields such as literature, philosophy and the visual arts.
MGG Online comprises the second print edition of MGG (MGG2, published 1994 to 2008), the content of which is continuously updated, expanded and made accessible as an online database.

Naxos Music Library

Naxos Music Library as a comprehensive online streaming portal for classical music offers access to about 148.000 classical music CDs (as of November 2019).

The portal contains the complete catalogue of the in-house Naxos labels and over 600 other independent labels. More than 800 albums are added monthly.

The text material (mainly in English) contains biographies of composers and performers, work details, work analyses, CD accompanying texts, tables of contents and libretti of operas etc.

It can be researched on composer, performer, title, year of composition, epoch, genre etc., including a full-text search in the contained text material (audio streaming portal).
