Collecting and Storing Information in Standard Web Pages

We do not use cookies on these web pages. We use the session storage mechanism (DOM Storage) so that users can jump back to open menu states. Here, the orientation menu that has been requested, its state and header (e.g.: "https://www.uni-regensburg.de/studium/", "10,-1,-1", "Studium") will be stored in the browser during the session.

In contrast to the cookie technology, the information will not be stored permanently and will be deleted automatically as soon as the browser window is closed. This information will no longer be available during browser sessions at a later date. It is therefore not possible to monitor user access behaviour. Moreover, this technology protects the user’s identity. It is possible to use the web pages without this technology at any time. Please note that this information may not apply for subpages of the website.

  • the date and time of the request ([05/Apr/2010:00:00:01 +0200])
  • the request type (GET)
  • the path and name of the requested file (/images/home/siegelaktuell.gif)
  • the transmission protocol that has been used (HTTP/1.1)
  • the request state information (200)
  • the amount of information that has been transmitted (2057)
  • the uniform resource locator (URL) of the website from where the file has been requested

A weblog entry could for instance look like that:

123.456.97.36 - - [05/Apr/2010:00:00:01 +0200] "GET /images/home/siegelaktuell.gif HTTP/1.1" 200 2057 "https://www.uni-regensburg.de/" "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.1; Trident/4.0; SLCC2; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; Media Center PC 6.0; InfoPath.2)"

Any stored information will only be used for technical or statistical purposes, for instance in order to resolve technical issues and to improve the performance of the web servers.

Any analysis will be carried out completely anonymously; the information is not used to identify users nor will it be compared with any other information.
The information is stored for two months and then deleted unless an identified web attack results in a civil action or the criminal prosecution against the attacker.

Please note that this privacy policy may not apply for subpages. For instance, the storage period for information differs on pages that are accessed via the URL www-cgi.uni-regensburg.de. Please read the privacy policies on these pages if and when applicable.
