Orientation and ILC

In order to help you to prepare in the best way for your stay in Regensburg, the International Office offers to preparatory courses:

Orientation Course

For all students whose German skills are advanced enough to follow lectures taught in German or those who do not have the time to take part in the intensive language course, and therefore can only arrive in Regensburg right before the lectures start, UR offers the orientation course.

This course, which is free of charge, starts about 1-2 weeks before the lectures start and consists of general orientation, an introduction to German culture, information on your studies (such as enrollment, schedulling and registering for courses), support with all formalities such as registering with the Foreigners' Registration Office or health insurance as well as guided tours of campus and the historic city center.

In contrast to the intensive language course, the orientation course does not offer any German language instruction. However, if you would like to improve your German by taking additional classes during the lecture period, you will have to take part in a German placement test, which takes place during the orientation course.

The orientation course is offered in English and in German. (Two separate groups.)
Please let us know your preferred language of instruction during the general online application. There is no separate application for the orientation course.
