Trip to Walhalla

A boat trip down the Danube leads us to one of the most recognizable structures in the Regensburg region. Walhalla is considered the masterpiece of all the artistic creations of the Bavarian King Ludwig I. Walhalla was built by the architect Leo von Klenze from the year 1830 to 1842. The steps of the monument provide a great view over the Danube and surrounding region, while the interior of the monument honors “big heads”: 128 marble busts and 64 plaques attest to German and European history, the benchmarks of the humanities, natural science, literature, music, and the visual arts.
