Visa and Residence Regulations

This section provides you with all information needed regarding visa regulations, immigration laws, work permit, funding, etc.

For any further information, please contact Ms Wunderlich.

Important Information for all non EU residents!

  • Please don't forget to renew your residence permit in time (approximately 8 weeks before it expires). Otherwise you risk severe consequences from the German authorities. Once your residence permit has expired, you are in Germany illegally.
  • Important note: remember to update your residence permit as soon as you change your subject or university. If you don't update it, it will get invalid!
  • The Immigration Office only issues residence permits for a duration of at least one year. Hence in order for you to obtain this document you must show proof of sufficient founding for this period of time. For example by means of an official financial obligation or by presenting a German bank account with a credit balance of 8748 Euro (729 Euro per month).

For further information please contact Ms Wunderlich or the Municipal Immigration Office (Ausländerbehörde)!
