Learning German

To become well integrated in Germany it is of utmost importance to have good German skills.  Improving your German skills will not only help you to master everyday life, but also to understand the German culture much better.

The Department of German as a Foreign Language (DaF) in collaboration with the International Office has put together a set of language courses for international doctoral students and guest researchers. You can join these courses almost on a monthly basis (please look for the specific dates below). These German courses, in which your partners can also participate, take place in the evenings to allow you plenty of time during the day for your research.

Incomings

The level of the German instruction goes from beginners (A1) to proficient users (C1). Each level (except A1 with 3 partial courses and C1 with 2 partial courses) is composed of 4 partial courses. Each partial course lasts about 4-5 weeks (28 lecture hours), at the end of which there will be one week pause before the following course starts.

In addition, participants of the German courses have access to courses offered through the E-Learning program of the German as a Foreign Language Department. To enquire about this, please contact the German as a Foreign Language Department directly.
