UR’s 11 faculties offer over 150 accredited degree programs on bachelor, master and PhD level. These span a wide range of disciplines from business and social sciences to law and the humanities, from the natural sciences to medicine. Research and teaching are closely linked in all programs. UR offers a selection of English-taught degree programs and over 200 English-taught individual courses across many study fields.
Over 21,000 students presently enjoy the excellent study and research facilities at the modern campus of the UR. Well-structured yet flexible educational programs taught by dedicated, open-minded teachers, who are at the forefront of their fields, promote academic success.

The university’s language center offers a large variety of German language courses throughout the semester and also intensive preparatory language courses at all levels, from A1 to C1, prior to the start of the semester.
About 1,800 international students from over 100 countries are currently enrolled at UR - among them more than 500 exchange students annually. New students, whether degree seeking or coming on exchange from one of the many international partner institutions, will find effective and comprehensive services in place which foster a rapid immersion to academic life on campus and life in Regensburg in general.

The attractiveness of the university is enhanced by the appeal of the city itself. Regensburg was awarded UNESCO World Heritage status in 2006. With its ever-present traces of more than 2.000 years of history, its unique medieval city center and its many magnificent architectural highlights (Old Stone Bridge across the river Danube, St. Peters Cathedral - to name just two), Regensburg is loved by both locals and new comers to the city.
Regensburg is a young city, one in five inhabitants being a student. The large student community has left its mark. A great variety of bars, restaurants, street cafes and a well-balanced mix of cultural events make Regensburg a vibrant city. Regensburg offers a unique mixture of historical heritage and bustling city life.
UR boasts four classical orchestras, three big bands, several more jazz ensembles, choirs and various student chamber ensembles, all waiting for you to take part in. At the university's theater 13 student ensembles regularly perform classicals plays and special highlights – in German, English and Russian – as well as in-house productions, pantomime, dance and improv theater and musicals. Watching the performances is good fun, joining a theatre group even more so.
