Research field within the Alliance ("Themenverbund")

My research interest relevant for the alliance „Real Estate and Capital Markets“ focuses on questions regarding the effect of regulation (legislation, jurisdiction and administrative actions) on real estate and capital markets.

This includes in particular the question, which legal rules and their application by the judiciary and executive lead to barriers for investment in real estate and infrastructure and how statutory requirements can be optimized in that respect.

I have carried out exemplary research concerning the regulation of broadband infrastructure and the current developments of public procurement law.

Further studies refer to the reactions of the EU state aid law and public procurement law to the real estate, financial and economic crisis.

My research projects involve several different areas of the law, as zoning law, public procurement law, EU state aid law, but also infrastructure law (energy, telecommunications, transport).

Most of my research questions are highly interdisciplinary and economists can connect easily (especially to questions which conduct research on `competition, investment and regulation`).

A part of my research I am already executing with various economists, for example Justus Haucap (University of Dusseldorf, Chairman of the Monopolies Commission) or Roman Inderst (University of Frankfurt).
