News: New Study on the Psychological Effects of War and Violence Content on Social Media

Report by the University of Regensburg on our chair's current research into the effects of war and violence-related content on adolescents and young adults

08 July 2026, by Corinna Stechele

A recent report on the University of Regensburg’s website presents the findings of a representative population study conducted by our department on the psychological effects of war and violence-related content on social media. The study, published by Dr. Daniel Schleicher, PD Dr. Irina Jarvers, Dr. Angelika Ecker, Prof. Dr. Stephanie Kandsperger, and Prof. Dr. med. Romuald Brunner, shows that empathy and emotional awareness, in particular, influence how distressing such content can be for adolescents and young adults.
