With BYLES, the EDS Chair is leading one of the largest and most sustainable digital reading screening programs, implemented across Bavaria in around 1,600 primary schools and involving over 180,000 participating children. Such a project naturally comes with significant technical challenges. A core component of its implementation was the Java ecosystem, which was integrated and coordinated by our staff member Stefan Böhringer. To present this technical implementation, he was a speaker at one of the largest Java conferences in Europe, JCON Europe 2025, which took place in Cologne from May 12–15. Stefan was also interviewed for the Foojay Podcast.
