In what areas do internationally renowned companies such as Google, DeepMind, Infineon, bulwiengesa, or deepset AI apply machine learning and data science? What are Bavarian universities and research institutions such as the Munich Institute of Robotics and Machine Intelligence (MIRMI) at Technical University of Munich or the German Aerospace Center working on?
In Regensburg, the Women in Data Science Regensburg has now been providing answers to these questions for four years. The conference continues to grow: this year, seven speakers, around 20 poster presenters, and approximately 150 participants used the event at the Jahnstadion Regensburg as a platform for in-depth exchange between academia, industry, and early-career researchers.
“Women in Data Science” sets an example for diversity in STEM fields. The conference was originally initiated by a professor at Stanford University, who observed that conference stages—especially in data science—were almost exclusively occupied by male speakers, while women were largely absent. At WiDS conferences, only women present, but participants of all genders are explicitly welcome. More information: www.wids-regensburg.de/ (external link, opens in a new window)
