Language-ready for studying in Regensburg
Our preparatory courses help international applicants to the University of Regensburg and OTH Regensburg prepare for their degree programmes and the German Language Examination for University Admission (Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang - DSH).
Advanced German skills are key to academic success. Our courses provide university-specific language training at various levels, aiming to ensure students are fully prepared for university study.

Course Formats & Fees

Course Levels
Intermediate Course (B2)
- Requirements: onSET-Deutsch score of at least 70 points or equivalent proof
- For learners with good B1 knowledge
- Development of B2 competencies and academic study skills
- Successful completion of the final test with a minimum grade of "satisfactory" qualifies participants for the advenced course.
Advanced Course (C1)
- Requirements: onSET-Deutsch score of at least 90 points or equivalent proof
- For learners with good B2 knowledge
- Development of C1 competencies and academic study skills
- Preparation for the DSH (DSH training) included
- Option to take the DSH directly after completing the course
Timetable
The courses take place from Monday to Friday. The language course timetable (without additional courses) is as follows:

- Application to the University of Regensburg or OTH Regensburg
- University entrance qualification
- German language skills: at least a good to very good B1 level
Application & Registration
Semester courses
- University of Regensburg: Apply via the Registrar's Office
Deadlines:- 15 January (summer semester)
- 15 July (winter semester)
- OTH Regensburg: Apply via the International Office
Deadlines:- 15 February (summer semester)
- 15 August (winter semester)
Intensive Courses (during the semester break)
- Only for participants of the semester courses
- Registration via the DaF Department office
- Registration details will be provided by email
Placement & Proof of Language Proficiency
The course level is initially determined based on the language certificate submitted with your application. If you would like to update your language level after admission, you may:
- take the onSET-Deutsch test before the course begins (e.g. at our Language Testing Service).
- send a recent language certificate by email to studienvorbereitung.daf(at)ur.de.
Important:
- To be considered, your language certificate must be submitted no later than one week before the course begins. It is not possible to change course or level after this deadline.
- The following criteria apply for placement:
