IEEE and Global Talent Mentoring Working Together to Further Talent Mentoring in STEMM

The University of Regensburg is pleased to announce a new partnership between its university-hosted mentoring program Global Talent Mentoring and IEEE, the world’s largest technical professional organization

20. Dec. 2023

Global Talent Mentoring, an online mentoring program based in Germany and the United Arab Emirates facilitating advanced talent development and innovation in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and the medical sciences (STEMM), will collaborate with IEEE on a new effort to pair professional technologists with aspiring students.

Mentors from across the globe will have a unique opportunity to support talented youth regardless of their geographical, financial, and cultural background by sharing their expertise and providing possible opportunities for collaboration on scientific research studies. The program is designed to provide improvements to existing STEMM talent development and encourage an environment that provides an avenue for making a broader impact on society by sharing STEMM expertise with the next generation of leaders.

IEEE and Global Talent Mentoring will work together to identify STEMM-expert mentor volunteers from across the globe to better serve the needs of the outstanding young mentees in the mentoring program. Mentors will be expected to make an annual commitment to the program.

About Global Talent Mentoring

Global Talent Mentoring is an excellence-focused online mentoring program facilitating advanced talent development and innovation in STEMM for outstanding youths and young adults (https://globaltalentmentoring.org/). Mentees have outstanding early achievements in a specific STEMM domain and are determined to develop expertise. Global Talent Mentoring was conceptualized and developed by Prof. Dr. Heidrun Stoeger and her team at the University of Regensburg. The program is now co-directed by Prof. Dr. Stoeger and Prof. Drs. Albert Ziegler (University of Erlangen-Nuremberg) as it expands its global reach. Global Talent Mentoring is funded and owned by the Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences (Hamdan Foundation) in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) and free of charge for mentees thanks to the generosity of the Hamdan Foundation and the generous pro bono work of hundreds of mentor volunteers in more than 50 countries. Since the launch of the program in 2021, Global Talent Mentoring has grown its network to encompass around 60 partner institutions on four continents.
