Keynote

Open Science Across Disciplines and the Research Process (Dr. David Morgan)

Keynote 26.03.2026, 9.15 Uhr

Open access publishing and open/FAIR data management are prominent aspects of open science, yet they are not the only aspects that are relevant to research. Indeed, open science is relevant throughout the research process. In the wake of the replicability and reproducibility crises across fields, many additional aspects of Open Science have become relevant to research, spanning the entire research process (e.g. preregistration and reproducible code). But how does this look in practice? Is it necessary to implement them all at once? And how do they apply to subjects beyond the social sciences and quantitative research? Open Science is not an all-or-nothing endeavour. Instead, open science can be approached gradually as a development towards more open, transparent, and reproducible research, considering previous experience, your field of expertise, the stage of the research process, external influences and the resources currently available. We will present examples of best practice and discuss the challenges that may arrive, providing you with the knowhow to approach Open Science in your own way.
