Information Science Regensburg at CHIIR'24
Get ready, CHIIR 2024 - here we come!
Members of the Information Science group at the University of Regensburg are regular CHIIR attendees. This year, we're thrilled to announce that our group has not one, not two, but THREE papers accepted:
- Balancing Act: Boosting Strategies for Informed Search on Controversial Topics by Markus Bink and David Elsweiler
- "You tell me": A Dataset of GPT-4-Based Behaviour Change Support Conversations by Selina Meyer and David Elsweiler
- QookA: A Cooking Question Answering Dataset by Alexander Frummet and David Elsweiler

Short report on CHIIR 2024 from the perspective of our Regensburg group
CHIIR 2024 - A wonderful opportunity to meet "old" friends again
A team of current and former Regensburg researchers attended CHIIR this year. It was especially nice to see our former PhD student and co-researcher Florian Meier (now: Associate Professor for Information Studies at Aalborg University Copenhagen, Denmark), as well as our former student and co-researcher Anna-Marie Ortloff (now: PhD Student at Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn, Germany) again.

CHIIR 2024 - Regensburg on top
German participants represented about one quarter of all participants at the conference and one quarter of those came from Regensburg.
On top of that, the CHIIR 2024 Best Short Paper Award went to Regensburg to our PhD student Selina Meyer and her supervisor David Elsweiler. Read more on this in our report on the CHIIR 2024 Best Short Paper Award.
