cryo-sample preparation

For cryo-sample preparation we use curently two systems:

The Leica GP2 and Vitrobot Mark IV are both popular automated vitrification systems used for cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) sample preparation. Both systems user-friendly interface and intuitive design. It offers a straightforward workflow and easy navigation, making it accessible to users with varying levels of expertise.

Despite serving the same purpose, there are notable distinctions between the two systems. The Vitrobot system utilizes two blotting pads that converge at the grid, allowing for a greater variation in ice thickness and the presence of areas with optimal ice quality. In contrast, the Leica GP2 system employs a single blotting pad positioned parallel to the grid, resulting in the production of ice films that have a highly consistent and reproducible thickness.
