At the University Council meeting on 28 November 2025, Vice-President Prof. Dr Nikolaus Korber, Vice-President for Student Affairs, Teaching and Continuing Education, was reappointed to his post for a further three years. Prof. Korber has held this position since 2013. There was, however, a change in the post of Vice-President for Internationalisation and Diversity. Prof. Dr Ursula Regener, who has held this post since 2020, did not stand for re-election. Prof. Dr Jenny Rahel Oesterle-El Nabbout was elected as her successor. The new terms of office will each begin on 1 April 2026.

“I am delighted that Prof. Dr Nikolaus Korber has been reappointed as Vice-President for Student Affairs, Teaching and Continuing Education. With his extensive professional expertise and his tireless commitment to the forward-looking development of our academic and teaching landscape, he has been providing vital impetus for the entire University of Regensburg for many years,” said University President Prof. Dr Udo Hebel following the election. He continued: “In Prof. Dr Jenny Rahel Oesterle-El Nabbout, the Executive Board gains an outstanding academic who will take up her post with fresh perspectives, a wealth of experience and great creative energy. I look forward to working with her and am convinced that she will set important priorities and continue the successful development of the department. At the same time, I would like to express my sincere thanks to Prof. Dr Ursula Regener for her extraordinary contributions over the past years. Since 2020, she has shaped and significantly advanced the Department of Internationalisation and Diversity with great prudence, a high degree of professionalism and impressive dedication.”

Prof. Dr Jenny Rahel Oesterle-El Nabbout expressed her delight at her appointment: “The University of Regensburg already stands out for its national and international influence.” She described it as a hub for academic exchange and for bringing people together from all over the world. “I am very happy to be able to further advance the important areas of ‘International Affairs’ and ‘Diversity’ at our university over the next three years as Vice-President, approaching human interactions with a sense of responsibility and warmth,” said Prof. Oesterle-El Nabbout.

The re-elected Vice-President for Student Affairs, Teaching and Continuing Education, Prof. Dr Nikolaus Korber, also expressed his enthusiasm: “I am grateful that the University Council has placed its trust in me for a further term of office. The rapid and, in some cases, disruptive advances in generative artificial intelligence mean that major changes lie ahead for student affairs and teaching at the university. I look forward to tackling these and other issues together with the students and staff at the University of Regensburg.”
