News: New release

03 August 2023, by Professorship for political science with a focus on methods

We carried out a teaching research project (USBW18) with over 200 students at the universities of Regensburg, Passau and LMU Munich for the 2018 state elections in Bavaria. We visited many polling stations in Bavarian municipalities for post-election surveys and collected a lot more data on the 2018 state election. The resulting volume "Die Landtagswahl 2018 in Bayern - Analysen zum Wahlverhalten und zur politischen Kultur im Free State of Bavaria" by Prof. Dr Melanie Walter-Rogg and Tassilo Heinrich was published today (external link, opens in a new window).

The work

  • Updates the state of research on Bavarian voting behaviour and political culture
  • Focuses on the 2018 state election in Bavaria as the beginning of a green upsurge in Germany
  • Provides analyses based on an extensive teaching research project

This book provides new insights into voting behaviour and political culture in the Free State of Bavaria (Freistaat Bayern) by analysing the results of the 2018 state election from different perspectives. For example, the dominant position of the CSU no longer exists due to the significant gains made by Bündnis90/Die Grünen and the AfD. The volume benefits from a comprehensive database as part of a teaching research project involving three Bavarian universities.

The work is available both as an e-book and as a printed version at the following link: https://link.springer.com/book/10.1007/978-3-658-41392-7 (external link, opens in a new window)
