The St. Hedwig Clinic for Gynecology and Obstetrics, under the auspices of the Brothers of Mercy, is a Level 1 perinatal center, i.e. a mother-child clinic of the highest level of care. Children of all weight categories are born at our center and can also be cared for in cases of extreme prematurity. We specialize in high-risk pregnancies, multiple births, serious maternal illnesses and place our medical art entirely at the service of expectant families!

However, uncomplicated births also take place under our care and enjoy the safety aspect of a team of experts in the background. With 3,500 deliveries per year, we are one of the five largest maternity hospitals in Germany and the largest university maternity hospital in the Federal Republic.

The Chair of Gynecology and Obstetrics with a focus on obstetrics at the University of Regensburg is located in the St. Hedwig Clinic. In addition to highly developed medicine, we offer research and student teaching at the most modern level. The special feature of an obstetrics-focused chair is only found in a few university cities in Germany, so this opportunity for obstetrics-related scientific activity allows us to shape state-of-the-art obstetrics medicine in the present day and to leave an academic mark on it for future generations.

The range of gynecological services offered by our clinic includes the entire spectrum of modern gynecology, in addition to the special services that can help women get pregnant and stay pregnant. Our particular strength lies in minimally invasive surgery, robotic surgery and urogynecology. As a certified endometriosis clinic, we offer an interdisciplinary, comprehensive range of treatments for endometriosis patients.

With a bed dependency in the Hospital of the Brothers of Mercy in Prüfeninger Straße and in combination with our university outpatient clinic, we care for all women with breast cancer or genital carcinomas within the framework of our certified oncological center according to the latest therapy standards.
