Center for Commemorative Culture

The junior professorship works closely with the Center for Commemorative Culture at the University of Regensburg. The Center for Commemorative Culture is a scientific-discursive forum for the discussion and critical reflection of historical and contemporary cultures of memory. In an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary perspective, the CCC deals with the forms, conditions, possibilities and effects of historical memory and asks about the negotiation processes, modes of representation and practices of dealing with memory and history. This is done with a double focus: the systematic investigation of memory cultures as a research object and the 'reflected making' of history in public spaces. The centre thus creates an interface between memory-cultural practice and theory in various formats, where actors meet on equal terms. At the same time, it serves as a starting point and source of inspiration for the critical examination of the diverse aesthetic, political and cognitive, but also commercial, popular-cultural, performative and virtual-media facets of the public treatment of history.

More information about the centre can be found here.
