Instrumental developments in ultrafast TEM

Photograph of the Ultrafast TEM developed in our group

At the University of Regensburg and as part of the Regensburg Center for Ultrafast Nanoscopy (RUN), we build up two labs focused on UTEM. In a first lab, we install an ultrafast TEM which we developed in our recent work at the University of Oldenburg. The instrument is based on JEOL JEM F200 instrument and uses a modified Schottky field emitter to generate high-coherence femtosecond electron pulses. A second instrument currently being constructed will be based on an aberration corrected TEM and will be optimized for generating highly focused femtosecond electron pulses for probing dynamics in single quantum systems.
