Psychotheraputic university outpatient clinic for clinical neuropsychology

Welcome to the website of the Psychotheraputic University Outpatient Clinic for Clinical Neuropsychology!

About us

Since 2025: Psychotheraputic University Outpatient Clinic for Clinical Neuropsychology (HSA-NP)

The HSA-NP was established at the University of Regensburg with the Chair of Clinical Neuropsychology & Neuropsychological Psychotherapy.

Location: We are currently located in the Child & Adolescent Outpatient Clinic in Clermont Ferrand Allee. From August 2026, the HSA-NP will be located in the Biopark on the University of Regensburg campus.

Individual or group therapy: We offer psychotherapy for various neuropsychological and psychological disorders following brain damage. This typically includes topics such as coping with the illness and/or cognitive training. Test diagnostics are carried out before the start of therapy and during the course of treatment.

The management team: We (Dietlind Harisch, Birgit Becker, and Prof. Dr. Randerath) are licensed psychological psychotherapists with a focus on behavioral therapy and specialisation in clinical neuropsychology. Our work is supported by Silvia Schnorrer, who manages our back office.

Research: As a teaching and research outpatient clinic, we conduct studies on neuropsychological dysfunctions and neuropsychological psychotherapy. For example, it is important for the continuous progress of psychotherapy that its approaches are scientifically evaluated.

We train psychologists and psychotherapists: Our therapies are often accompanied by interns in their Bachelor's and Master's programmes (e.g. outpatient BQT3 module). We are currently in the planning process for postgraduate continuing education after the licence to practise / Approbation.

Steps to neuropsychological psychotherapy: procedure

A prerequisite for reimbursement of neuropsychological psychotherapy by health insurance providers is, first and foremost, a specialist medical diagnosis.

Your specialist (neurologist/psychiatrist, either outpatient or in a clinic) determines that outpatient neuropsychological treatment is necessary. You will receive a written recommendation:

including the ICD diagnosis of the underlying neurological condition, the date of the initial diagnosis, and information about the current reason for the recommendation (e.g., in a discharge letter or referral).

01. Registration: Appointment scheduling for the initial consultation by phone or email (see registration for consultation hours)

02. Waiting list enrollment: Important note: billing begins with the initial consultation

03. Initial consultation: Formalities, exploration of symptoms, information, clarification of further steps

04. Diagnostics: Based on medical history, questionnaires, and computer-assisted diagnostic procedures

05. Feedback session: Establishing indication, treatment recommendation

06. Outpatient psychotherapy: Individual therapy, group therapy

Registration for consultation hours / initial consultation

We would like to point out that a cost settlement is already made for the first consultation appointment, regardless of whether neuropsychological psychotherapy is subsequently started with us.

Cost bearers can be Statutory health insurance, private health insurance, subsidies, self-payers, other cost bearers

Consultation hour

The first step towards educational or research psychotherapy in our university outpatient clinic is to make an appointment for a consultation. You can contact the secretary's office by e-mail to make an appointment.

Scope: There are one or more consultation appointments lasting between 25 and 50 minutes. At least 50 minutes of consultations over 1-2 appointments are required to start psychotherapy.

Aim: During the consultation, it is clarified whether a neuropsychological illness is present and whether neuropsychological psychotherapy is indicated and which further support measures are suitable. If outpatient neuropsychological psychotherapy is indicated, free places are available and there is interest in it, outpatient teaching or research psychotherapy can then be started with us.

Latest news

Dear patients,

with the new Chair of Clinical Neuropsychology & Neuropsychological Psychotherapy (since 10.2024), the establishment of a psychotheraputic university outpatient clinic for clinical neuropsychology has been under construction since 2025. As a guest in the Child & Adolescent Outpatient Clinic of the Chair of Prof. David Kolar, we were able to start our therapeutic offer.

We are delighted that this offer has already been so well received in 2025, even without targeted advertising, that we already have a waiting list. We would like to thank you for the trust you have placed in us.

Due to the great demand, we will continue to endeavour to expand our team, the premises and thus also our offer for you.

We are therefore very pleased to inform you that the University of Regensburg is now allowing us to move into new premises on campus (with wheelchair access and appropriate WCs). The move is planned for summer 2026.

We wish you all the best and especially good health.

The HSA-NP team

Our offer: Individual and group therapy

Our services include general neuropsychological and psychotherapeutic treatment for those affected by the cognitive and affective consequences of brain damage (based on the guidelines). We offer individual therapies (one session usually lasts 50 minutes) and group therapies (one session usually lasts. Our small groups typically have a specific focus. They have the advantage that we can offer therapy to several patients at the same time, and that you can have a guided exchange with other patients. The indication/possibility of participation is discussed in an initial consultation.

Requirements for participation in neuropsychological therapy are always a neurological illness with an ICD10 code confirmed by a specialist (neurology/psychiatry).
