University
You will study at the International University of Turku (Turun Yliopisto) and meet many other exchange students. Especially for students of education: there is a dedicated 'Faculty of Education' that will deepen your knowledge of pedagogy. And where better to gain an insight into the globally recognised Finnish education system than in Finland itself? Your courses will introduce you to areas such as Educational Leadership, Workplace Learning or Comparative Education and you can enrich your Timetable with a wide range of electives.
Turku
Turku, like Regensburg, is a very student, young and lively city, right on the Aura, the river that flows through Turku. By arriving in late summer, you will not only experience the beauty of the icy Finnish winter, but also see the city in its colourful autumn flair. Whether it's a walk along the Aura to the harbour, a coffee and munkki at Café Fontana or a cider at the Old Irish Pub, you and your fellow students are sure to find something you like.
Leisure time
The diversity of Finland offers numerous opportunities to create new memories. For the sporty nature lovers among you, there are great hiking trails through forests and around lakes. The neighbouring cities of Helsinki, Tampere, Ruissalo or Naantali invite you to take day trips for strolling and shopping. Two potential highlights are a visit to the Åland Islands, which lie between Sweden and Finland, and a trip to snow-covered Lapland in the north of Finland. This will bring you and your fellow Double Degree students even closer together, as will the original Finnish sauna sessions.
